Reminder: That Okinawan TV show I mentioned at the meeting:
"Sit-in on the Sea" (2006, 48 mins)
This powerful bilingual (Japanese with English subtitles) documentary from Okinawa shows the spirit of Uchinanchu in their ongoing struggle with Japan for self-determination, human rights and peace.

The film may also be viewed via Internet at the times above, at www.olelo.org and clicking on NATV under "Olelonet."
In addition, the film will play at the Jikoen Hongwanji (1731 N. School & Likelike Hwy) on August 3, at 7pm, followed with discussion.

I watched the show. Very moving seeing the self-determination of the Uchinanchu, especially the elderly Okinawans.
