Mi nombre es Natalia Maki Yamashiro, soy una Nisei nacida en Buenos Aires, Argentina que radica en California, EE UU. En este momento estoy cursando mis estudios de post graduado y mi tema es “Los Okinawenses en Bolivia, las Colonias y la Reforma Agraria”. Yo soy parte de Japanese American Living Legacy (jalivinglegacy.org) que es un grupo sin fines de lucro que capta las experiencias y anécdotas de los japoneses en Japón y en Latinoamérica por medio de entrevistas.

Estoy muy contenta de ver un sitio en que todos los Uchinanchus puedan intercambiar ideas y dar a conocer eventos en su área o país. Espero que por medio del Internet nos podamos unificar y seguir la rica cultura Okinawense.

My name is Natalia Maki Yamashiro, I am a second generation Japanese born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. My family and I live in Los Angeles, California. I am a graduate student doing my dissertation on “Okinawan Bolivians, the Colonia (Colony) system and Agricultural Reform”. I belong to Japanese American Living Legacy (jalivinglegacy.org) which is non-profit organization that is preserving Japanese, Japanese American and Japanese Latin American history via oral history interviews.

I am very happy to have found this great website that allows for the exchange of ideas and promotes Okinawan events from various cities and countries. I hope that through the Internet we would be able to unify and continue the rich Okinawan legacy.
